Mahatma Gandhi Law College

Established in 2022 to bring a complete legal education to Naroda.

Mahatma Gandhi Law College was established in 2022 by the Manav Hit Yuva Sangathan Trust to make a proper legal education available to students in and around Naroda, without asking their families to stretch for it. The College is affiliated to Gujarat University and its three-year LL.B. programme is approved by the Bar Council of India. Teaching is handled by qualified faculty with courtroom and academic experience, and the syllabus follows the University's prescribed course of study for the LL.B. degree.

Beyond the syllabus, the College holds itself to a single standard: a graduate of this College should be able to read a judgment, draft a plaint, and argue on their feet. Moot court is a fixed part of the academic calendar rather than an annual event, and the Legal Aid and Internship Committees place students in real work from the first year, not the last. Every student receives individual attention, and the faculty follow each student's progress through the course.

The Three-Year LL.B. Programme

Fees

The College deliberately keeps its fees among the more affordable LL.B. programmes in Ahmedabad. Every fee is stated in writing at the time of admission, and no additional charges are raised during the three years. For the current year's fee structure, call +91 98988 87981.

Applying through GCAS

Admission to the programme is made through the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal, and the dates follow the GCAS schedule announced by the State each year. If you are unsure whether you are eligible, or are stuck on the GCAS form, call the office. We take applicants through the process every season, including students applying without any family background in law.

Visit before you apply

The campus is open to prospective students and parents through the week, Monday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. No appointment is needed. Ask to see the library and the moot court hall, and to meet a faculty member.

• Well-equipped library — Bare Acts, commentaries, law reports, reference texts and journals covering the full LL.B. syllabus, with reading space for quiet study between lectures.
• Moot court hall — a dedicated moot court set up as a working courtroom, with bench, bar and lectern, used for practice rounds, mock trials and internal competitions throughout the year.
• Smart classrooms — airy, well-lit classrooms equipped with projection for case law and statutes.
• Computer laboratory — for online legal research, e-filing familiarity and access to judgments and databases.
• Language laboratory — supporting students who have studied in Gujarati medium, building the English reading and courtroom speaking that legal practice demands.
• Common rooms — separate common rooms for women and men students, with drinking water and washrooms maintained on the floor.
• Staff room — on the same floor as the classrooms, so faculty are reachable between and after lectures.

The academic year outside the classroom.

Attendance at lectures is required, and alongside it the year carries a full calendar of moots, guest lectures, court visits, legal aid work and cultural activity.

• Moot court practice — internal practice rounds and memorial drafting sessions through the year, with faculty acting as the bench. College teams have appeared at the 16th GNLU International Moot Court Competition, Gandhinagar.
• Guest lectures from the Bar — practising advocates and public officers address students on how the law works in a courtroom, including sessions by Assistant Public Prosecutors.
• Court and institutional visits — organised visits to the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha, the State Human Rights Commission, the Directorate of Forensic Science, and district and mahila jails.
• Legal Aid Centre — the College runs a Legal Aid Centre involving students in awareness work and assistance for people in the surrounding area who cannot afford advice.
• Awareness programmes — observances including the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the International Day of Social Justice, International Women's Day, and anti-ragging campaigns.
• Youth Festival — students take part in the Gujarat University Youth Festival (Umang) and have returned with awards.
• Internships — the Internship Committee places students with advocates and chambers from early in the course, building practical exposure over three years.

Reaching the campus

The College is on the sixth floor of Ayushman Plaza, opposite the G.E.B Station in Naroda, near Vitthal Plaza. It is well connected by bus and auto, and is a short ride from Naroda, Nikol, Bapunagar, Sardarnagar and Kubernagar.
